It is Saturday morning, and I am sipping my first cup of coffee...
My husband and Sadie are still sleeping peacefully, and the house is very quiet. My girlfriend, Lori, left yesterday to fly back to her home in Houston, Texas. I am really feeling the absence of my dear friend as I sip my coffee and write this posting...
Ever notice how very quiet your home seems the morning after a loved one that visits you leaves? When I was living in Houston and my Mother would come to visit me for a few days, it was always sad to walk into the guest room where she had stayed. The room would be left as she had found it....everything in place...but noticeably quiet and empty except for maybe an empty shopping bag from a fun day out together. I was always sad for a bit the next morning because I knew it would be a few months before we could see each other again...

It is hard to say goodbye to those you love....family and friends....who visit. Oh how we wish we could see them a lot more than we do! Circumstances in life separate us from our loved ones at times, but we are always close in spirit and heart. Distance can not break the bond we share with those we care about. Family and true friendships are for a lifetime. How blessed we are to have them in our lives... No matter how far apart you are or how short the time you get to spend together, you know that you are there for each other...only a phone call or email away.
I had such a great time with my girlfriend, Lori, over the past few days. It was wonderful to spend time together again. I enjoyed our morning chats over coffee and the fun days spent showing her the area we live in. We did several things together in a short period of time. I will be sharing some photos of our visit on my blog next week.
Here is a photo of the two of us taken yesterday before we left with my husband to drive to the Seattle airport.
I was sad to see Lori leave but know that it will be only a couple of months before we will see each other again. I will be flying to Houston to attend a bridal shower for my son and his fiance in September or October. Each time I visit my son, I also have the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Lori. It is great that she lives in the Houston area, too!
Until then, I have some great photos and wonderful memories of our time spent together this past week. I am so blessed to have Lori in my life. We met in Houston when I lived there over 16 years ago now. Wow, time flies! It seems like just yesterday that we lived down the street from each other in Houston and were out waving goodbye to our six year old sons as they left on the bus for kindergarten. Those adorable six year olds are now handsome young men. Her son, Scott, is now 22 years old and my Elliott will be 22 on the 21st of this month. Sixteen years has passed since I lived in Houston but our friendship will last forever. Sisters of heart.... I am blessed to have her in my life and look forward to our next visit together. :)
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! The best part of a weekend is having extra time to spend with those you love. Thank you so much for sharing my thoughts and a cup of coffee today. Love to you today and aways.... xoxo Kim
