My husband and I love to walk to the little quaint shopping and restaurant area near our home. It is about a five minute walk from our house to the shops and waterfront where our sailboat is moored. Sometimes, we like to stop and grab a cup of coffee to take to our boat.
When walking downtown, we will often stop into the Hotshots Java Coffee Shop... They have delilcious coffee and it is right on our way to our sailboat, Skye.
This coffee shop is a popular local gathering place in our little Norwegian town. There is always people from the marina there reading the newspaper and sipping on coffee or young folks playing games at one of their many tables. At the back of the shop, they have a nice comfy seating area and a small fireplace. Great place to sip your coffee and read when the weather is cool here.
I like the look of the burlap coffee bags and the posters that decorate the coffee shop...
The barristas are friendly and love to get to know the local folks. My husband and I usually order a non-fat white chocolate mocha. They use a sugar-free Godiva white chocolate in the drink. It is delicious and a treat for me.
Many times, we will get our mochas "to go" and continue on our way to our sailboat...
With the weather beginning to turn more springlike, we will be going to our boat a lot more often. We have a 25 ft. Catalina sailboat with a nice comfy cabin area. My husband LOVES to spend the night on the boat. Sometimes, we just walk down and enjoy a pretty sunset from the cockpit with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. You always have your own waterfront property when you have a sailboat. Fun to spend time on....even when you are not sailing out on the bay.
Here is the first picture I made of my husband sailing "Skye, the Lillie-James" in Seattle on the day we bought our sailboat. You can see the joy in his face. That joy has never left him. He adores our sailboat, and it gives me pleasure to see him so happy on the water. My dad, who had a lifelong passion for boating and fishing, would have loved that...
So, as I sip my coffee, this morning.... I want to wish you a very special day today. What brings joy to your heart? Whatever that is, I hope that your day is filled with everything that makes you happy. Much love... xoxo Kim

Kim, your husband looks so content! Would love to see some pictures of your sailboat. I tried to get my husband interested in sailing, but he likes to get in the boat, turn the key and go. We had a Searay 22 foot boat for about 15 years and then we ended up selling it and buying a 5th wheel camper. We both really miss having a boat.
What a joyful experience for you both! Living so close to the sea and your sailboat is simply divine! Love the pictures of the coffee shop too. Have a fab weekend!
BTW...your trip and photos to Calgary are breathtaking!!

Thank you so much for the visits and the nice comments. Sandy, the sailboat has been a wonderful addition to our lives. I will do a blog posting on just the sailboat at some point---probably sometime over the next few weeks when the weather and the water are at their best for photos. Like most things in our lives, the sailboat has a story which I shall share. Have a beautiful day today! Great weekend, too! xoxo Kim
