Yesterday, I visited my favorite local market...where they not only have great whole foods but also beautiful flowers.
Sunflowers...like daisies...are such happy flowers...
They bring to mind wonderful places like Italy... Did I tell you my older son is going there next week for a wedding? I cannot wait to see all the beautiful photos he will take! No doubt, there will be some sunflowers...
My favorite place to see sunflowers, is in a kitchen... So, I took my flowers home and put them into a tall Mason jar. There is something so pretty and welcoming about sunflowers in a blue glass Mason jar...
I happily arranged them in my Mason jar and put them on the island in my kitchen where I can enjoy them...
I love how the clear blue color of the jar looks with the yellow of the sunflowers... so simple, but so pretty...
Sometimes, the most simple things in life bring us the most pleasure...
I hope your day today is sunny and bright...
No matter what the weather is where you live today... keep that sunshine there in your heart...
Have a beautiful weekend...
Thank you for visiting my blog today... YOU brighten my day! Happy Saturday! xoxo Kim

and you cannot see the shadow.
It's what sunflowers do."

Here is a sunflower poem just for YOU:
GARDEN OF SUNFLOWERS
A garden of Sunflower beckoned to me - We're large ones and small ones, some dainty and fair, We follow the sun, swaying slowly without a care, Gently hold onto our leaves, allow us to lead the way, I couldn't resist them, so dandy a sight! What a glorious time, right up til twilight, So happy were we, a long day filled with fun, So tender the moment, as I turned to leave. OH! It was so true!! I then knew it to be!!! ~Author Unknown~
Come join us, my lady, and joyous you'll be!
And even some delicate to wear in your hair.
We have a new dance that with you we will share.
To our Sunflower two-step, dancing throughout the day.
So off I did go in my Sunflower flight.
And then I had to bid my Sunflowers good-night.
Upon leaving I kissed them, each and every one.
With eyes brimmed with tears, could I truly believe?
I had to smile, 'cause they were all winking at me!!!!
These are so gorgeous...I have a big basket full of them on my dinning room table, they are just so full of cheer! :D

Your sunflowers are fabulous. One of my favorites and I love to decorate with them. They are always so happy.
Thanks also for the visit and the gracious comments. Yes, Texas does always seem to stay with you. You said you are in the Northwest now. How funny, I lived for 18 yrs. in Oregon and have a son that still lives there. Hope you are having a super weekend. Hugs, Marty

Hi Marty, Nice to meet a new friend! I enjoyed visiting your blog. Your home is so welcoming! Beautiful! Yes, Texas, stays in your blood...once that "cowgirl" gets into you, it is hard to shake. Once I discovered all that turquoise, silver and southwestern jewelry, I knew I had found myself. My son and his fiance are on the Rodeo Committee for the Houston Rodeo in Texas. I love going back to see him and love to go at Rodeo time in the early spring. I have a posting on the River Oaks neighborhood and Galveston that I did recently. You might enjoy visiting those postings under "Field Trips from the Nest." Nice you have a son in Oregon. My hubby and I have visited the beautiful State of Oregon a few times. Love that Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock area. I have a few photos on some postings on my blog from that area. Hope you have a happy day today and thank you for the nice visit! xoxo Kim

Kim, Love the photos of your sunflowers! I agree, sun flowers and daisies are bright and happy flowers!! I have a little bag of sunflower seeds that a friend gave me a couple of weeks ago. I'm debating where to put them because they grow so large. Never tried growing sun flowers before, but I love them! Your blog is coming along beautifully...your photos are gorgeous! Love the picture of you with your camera!! Would love to see some pics of your kitchen (could see a glimpse in the background).
Love and hugs, Sandy

Hi Sandy,
You will have to post about your sunflower seeds as they grow! I see a lot of people where we live with sunflowers planted along their fencelines....the fence helps to support their tall stalks. Won't it be fun to cut your own sunflowers from your yard! Thanks for visiting me today. Have a very happy day! :) xoxo Kim

Hi Trish,
I am sooooo sorry to hear your dear little furry friend has been sick. Hope your dog is feeling better. Our little pets are part of our family and I know you were sad to see that little one not feeling well. I hope the sunflowers helped to brighten your day.
