On a beautiful day, my husband and I love to put the top down on his little convertible and go for a nice drive. Sometimes, we drive over to Port Townsend for the day. Here is a photo of my husband. I took this photo as we were heading over the Hood Canal Bridge on a Sunday drive to Port Townsend... When we drive into Port Townsend, we always pass by this Victorian style home. It is up on the hill and hard to get a great photo of as you pass by but I did manage to snap this quick picture. I have always loved this home and think it has so much potential. It has been for sale a couple of times since we have moved to Washington State six years ago. Homes like this require a lot of maintenance, but I have always thought this would be such a fun home to own!
This home looks like a lighthouse and is one of the first homes you notice as you head into Port Townsend...
For those who have never visited, Port Townsend was once a logging community. There is so much history in the town! Most of the buildings in the downtown area near the waterfront are very historic. Many buildings have a victorian type architecture. You will find many historic style homes in the area, too. Some of the homes have been turned into bed and breakfasts. Port Townsend hosts many community events including a yearly wooden boat festival. Here is one of the buildings on the street. You can see the wonderful detail on the building. They just don't build them like this anymore...built to withstand the passage of time...
Here is another building... Sorry for the wire in the photo. I made these photos looking up from the convertible...but wanted you to see the building.
Many of the buildings have original murals on the side....most were advertising in those days...
The buildings are all overlooking the water...
Port Townsend is home to many artists and you can see some of their work in the many galleries in the area...
Many of the shops have a great view out their windows of the water. I made this photo from inside one of the antique stores...
My husband and I browsed through a few shops and decided to have a late lunch at a restaurant along the waterfront. We have passed by a restaurant/pub many times on some of our visits to Port Townsend called Sirens.
Looked interesting so we decided to give it a try...
Sirens is located on the second level and there are several steps to get to the top, but worth the climb... (there may be an elevator, but we didn't see it)
We aren't sure but it appears this building might have been a hotel at one time...
Looks like they have entertainment on some nights...
The pub area made me think a bit of places that are in Key West...
My husband and I waited for a nice table with an umbrella outside overlooking the water...
The table was well worth the short wait as you can see by the view!
From our table, we could sit and watch the sailboats and ferry go by. It was a beautiful Northwest day....not a cloud in the sky and around 82 degrees....
When our friendly waitress arrived to take our drink order, my husband ordered a mojito. It sounded so refreshing on this beautiful day that I decided to have the same thing.... "Two mojitos please...."
The boats passing by put on quite a show for us! They looked so pretty with the Olympic Mountains behind them...
Our mojitos were just as refreshing as they sounded. We enjoyed chatting and watching the activity on the water. The sound of the seagulls as they flew by made the afternoon seem perfect.
For lunch I ordered a warm grilled portobello mushroom salad with feta cheese. My husband ordered the nacho plate with chicken. My salad was delicious! I will order it again the next time I visit Sirens. My husband decided to try the nacho plate with chicken. It was a large plate of nachos but he did a pretty good job on them. My husband said he really enjoyed the nachos and would also order them again...
Most people were sitting outside but, as you can see, there is a lot of seating inside the restaurant/pub as well...
I walked around and made a few photos to share with you. I like the atmosphere of Sirens...
I loved the deep colors of the rooms and the lighting...
I love the old wood floors and also the exposed brick in some places of the restaurant. My husband and I have been thinking about putting some brick in as a backsplash in our kitchen. I have always looked the warmth of brick. I noticed that besides the tables, they have some cozy booths available by the windows. This would make a great seating area on a rainy or cool day because you could still enjoy looking out at the water....
The far room had a pool table in it...
Here is a closeup of the things that were displayed under glass on the table...
I liked the sconces in the hallways...
This sign hung in the hallway as well...
We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time at Sirens on Sunday. As we were leaving, we noticed this posting on the glass window downstairs advertising a jazz festival...
As I mentioned earlier, Port Townsend features a lot of events throughout the year. As we left, we drove down by the marina where the wooden boat festival is held each year.
This is also the area where the Puget Sound Express whale watching cruise to Friday Harbor begins... Be sure and visit my posting of Friday Harbor to see more information and lots of photos on this adventure. We took the Puget Sound Express to Friday Harbor last year and had a wonderful time! Looking forward to doing this again very soon! The waterfront was very beautiful on Sunday...
The Port Townsend Foundry.... the Cupola House...
Soon it was time to head back towards our home in Poulsbo.... We said goodbye to Port Townsend for the day and drove back towards the Hood Canal Bridge...
We stopped at our usual little coffee hut to grab some coffee for the ride home and talked about what a great day we had... We feel we are really fortunate to have some great places to go on a Sunday drive that are only about an hour away. Crossing the Hood Canal Bridge and heading towards Poulsbo...
I just love a Sunday drive, don't you? Thank you for coming along with us and for spending some time with us at Sirens in Port Townsend. Looking forward to next time! Have a happy day today! xoxo Kim
Looks like a fantastic place to be! Some stunning views! Enjoyed your pictures, especially the one from the antique window.

Hi Kim,
You always go to such interesting places. The restaurant/pub looks so fun. The red walls are so pretty and remind me of my red walls that I had in my movie room when I lived in No. Cal. I smiled when I saw the pool table because I grew up having a pool table and used to play it all the time. I loved the lady on the Port Townsend Farmers Market sign. Have a beautiful weekend. It should be a nice one here in Southern Cal.

Hi Kim...I loved the Sunday drive with you two! I really loved the table on the water! What a sunny warm day it looked like. Beautiful old buildings, no one could afford something like that now! :D
