My husband and I recently travelled to Houston to attend a wedding shower for my son, Brandon, and his beautiful fiance, Amy. Thank you to everyone who visited my blog and posted comments during my absence. What a wonderful and supportive group you are! I was very touched by the nice comments I received. Love to all of you!
I am sharing some photos today of the first event leading up to the wedding.....the baja themed couple shower. I hope you enjoy reliving the shower with me through photos....
Off we go....
Couldn't resist taking a couple of photos of the mountains we passed as we took off from Seattle on our flight to Houston.
It was so great to see Brandon and Amy and be a part of their special evening. Here is a photo that my husband took of the two of them before leaving for the shower. This was taken at Brandon's apartment just before we headed out the door. They are dressed for the Baja theme.
The shower was given by Amy's brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Tammy, who live in Houston. The shower was held at a local volleyball club which was perfect for their venue as you can see in the next photo...
Tommy has such a knack for hosting great parties! I definitely think she could have a great career as an event planner. It was so sweet of her to host this shower for Amy and Brandon. I am so appreciative of her doing this for them although I know it was an act of love on her part. Here is a photo of Tammy and Jeff with Amy's beautiful Mother, Nancy, who travelled from Florida to attend the shower. Three wonderful people whom I have enjoyed getting to know.
Every shower has a cake, and these cakes were to die for.....Dulce de Leche cakes from a wonderful local bakery in Houston. So delicious! Beautifully decorated, too...
The food was selected to compliment the Baja theme. I really enjoyed the chicken with tortillas. There was plenty of food, and everything was wonderful. Here is Tammy and Jeff's daughter, Blaire, sampling some of the selections. Blaire is a junior bridesmaid in the wedding. She is a very cute gal and is active in sports in the community.
The tables were all so festive. Tammy and Jeff thought of every detail to make the night memorable and fun.
Here are Tammy, Jeff and Blaire with Amy's Mother, Nancy, enjoying a moment together before guests arrived.
Amy and Brandon before the guests arrived...
As you can probably guess from the photo above, the signature drinks were margueritas! No Baja themed event would be complete without them...
Amy's Mother, Nancy, my sister, Jeri, and I raise our glasses in a toast to Amy and Brandon and their upcoming marriage... (Notice how the marguerita matched my dress? Totally unplanned....Ha)
Amy's Mother, Nancy, with Mark and myself... When you meet Amy's Mother, you can quickly see where Amy gets her beautiful smile. We have really enjoyed getting to know Amy's Mother, Nancy...
It wasn't hard to spot the guests of honor wearing these fun Mexican straw hats! The hats were a big hit.... Here is Senor Brandon and Senorita Amy wearing the hats... (Love the mustache, Brandon!)
Amy, Brandon and I...
My husband, Mark, and Brandon....the Frito Banditos...ha ha
My girlfriend, Lori, and I had some fun with the hat and mustache, too... :)
Amy's sister-in-law had these little drink covers made for the shower.... Nice little touch and something for guests to keep to remember the night...
Amy and Brandon with Amy's proud father, Ziad Noshie. Amy's Dad worked with Brandon on the design of Amy's beautiful wedding rings. As I mentioned in another posting, Amy's Father is a very talented jewelry designer. He has won numerous prestigious awards for his jewelry creations. No doubt creating beautiful wedding rings for his two daughters, Amy and Alissa, were the designs that most touched his heart.....made with all the love he has for his two beautiful daughters. If you are ever in Houston, please be sure and visit the family jewelry store, Almaza Jewelers, to see all the beautiful and creative designs for yourself.
Amy's Step-Mother, Lydia, with one of her very close friends. I have really enjoyed getting to know Amy's family and their friends over the past three years. I feel so blessed to have Amy and her family in my life. They are all wonderful people....
Before the guests arrived, I took the opportunity to make some photos of Amy and Brandon together.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunset and gorgeous weather on the night of the shower....
Soon the guests began arriving and the festivities began...
This cute couple just became engaged the night before the shower! My husband and I enjoyed hearing the story of their romantic proposal...
Brandon and his friend "TJ" go way back....having known each other since elementary/jr. high school when we lived in Houston. "TJ" used to live down the street from us in a neighborhood called Wortham Estates. "TJ" is one of the groomsmen in the wedding. Here is he is having fun with Brandon's fake mustache...
As you know if you have followed my blog, Brandon plays in a band in his free time. He plays lead guitar in a group called Radio One. They play at different venues around Houston on the weekends. The next photo is of Brandon's friend, Noah, and his pretty and sweet wife, Macy. Noah is the lead singer in Radio One and also plays guitar. Noah and Macy were married not long ago and are a very cute couple....
My sister, Jeri, and I.... Here's to Amy and Brandon!
Love ya, Sister....
Amy's brother an sister-in-law had strung up lights to add a festive touch to the shower. So pretty when dusk came. Here is Amy and Brandon with the lights in the background...
